Parents,
Your participation is what helps us host these tournaments. Without your active involvement, we wouldn't be successful. Because of this need, please review the following parameters and reach out with any issues or questions.

1. Every competitor must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone. Your student will not be able to check-in at the tournament without an accompanying parent or adult chaperone, who is OLDER THAN 18. Each judging parent may chaperone ONE additional student who is not their own if it is a debate or duo partner of their own child and may be required to judge additional rounds in place of the student’s parent if needed. A NON-PARENT chaperone may chaperone up to 2 students and will be required to judge the minimum 6 rounds, and may be required to judge more if needed.

2. All parents are expected to be willing to judge BOTH speech and debate. You will need to register as a judge before completing your student registration. Please be prepared to judge a minimum of 6 rounds of speech and/or debate throughout the two days. We are not requiring parents to sign up in advance for specific rounds. In order to keep the tournament functioning and running on time, we ask that you come to ballot push 30 min prior to each round, do your required six rounds, and maintain a willing heart when asked to judge. We also ask that you recruit community judges and family members to help us fill those remaining slots.

3. All parents who have not attended Judge Orientation this school year are required to attend Judge Orientation before judging at this tournament. Judge Orientation will be offered throughout the tournament. Please consult the schedule to make sure you get trained as early as possible.

4. If a parent is unable to fulfill any of these duties, please contact the tournament director to explain the circumstances and ask for permission to register without a designated judge. Please email us at director.colonialclassic@gmail.com (This exception will be given only to a limited number of students, first come, first served.)

Thank you for your commitment to these students. We hope that you have a great tournament!

Sincerely,
Verity Speech and Debate Club
